South Africa’s fast pitcher Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the upcoming three-game ODI series against world champions England. The 25-year-old has suffered a strain on his right adductor. Which also kept him out of the dead rubber T20I final at Newlands.
A press release from Cricket South Africa said the fast pitcher will need three weeks to heal. “Player will be out of the team and continue to be in protected bio zone for speedy recovery. Rehabilitation and preparation for Betway’s test series against Sri Lanka from December 26,” the statement said.
Rabada is coming off another successful IPL season with Delhi Capitals, finishing with Purple Cap. Claiming 30 wickets with an economy of 8.34 playing each of Delhi’s 17 games on the season. Incidentally, the South African also suffered a back injury after the 2019 IPL. He was withdrawn from the final stages as a precaution. Then South Africa captain Faf du Plessis even revealed after the World Cup team’s departure, that Rabada had been warned not to play the IPL.
The first ODI of three-game series will be played in Cape Town starting December 4. Subsequent games in Paarl and Cape Town again on December 6 and 9.
